Addressing a press conference yesterday in Kano, the President of the Union, Dr Bature Abdulaziz, said over 50 million members of the union from across the 36 states of the federation would support Buhari's second term bid come 2019.

AbdulAziz said Buhari had performed wonderfully in freeing the country from the bondages of corruption and insecurity woes.

"Former President Obasanjo is entitled to his opinion, but the traders have seen potentialities in Buhari and resolve to support his second term bid."

He said althuogh the union was not political organisation, but its members woukd not ignore the reality that Buhari was the best option for Nigeria come 2019.

The traders noted significant improvement in the energy sector and revamping of rail transport system that would allow smooth transportation of goods and services across the country.

Abdulaziz appealed to president Buhari to come to the aid of the traders by reducing Custom tariffs used in the assessment of duties on imported goods which they said was too high.

"Federal government should also come to our rescue and stop the new trend of Mega Markets set up by South Africans which is aimed at crippling our businesses in Nigeria. Government should partner with us to tackle this problem," he said.
