absa prem::Title is still in Bucs' sights - Micho

Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic believes a title in still well within their sights as they ready to face up to Maritzburg United on Saturday despite suffering a first defeat of the New Year at Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday and dropping down in the Absa Premiership standings.
“We shall as a team, given the badge we are wearing and with respect to our supporters, be fighting right up to that moment and the last chance we have to push forward to be where we are supposed to be … close to the top and on the top,” he told Supersport.com.
The 30 midweek loss away was Pirates’ first defeat in six games and saw the side drop down one place to fourth on the log, ad they are now eight points behind the leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
Pirates still have 10 matches left as they seek a first title since 2012.
“Except for one or two games this season, we have dominated possession in our matches. We are definitely not happy with the outcome against Ajax but we are seeing improvements and I believe we’ll still be much better.”
“Overall it was a hard lesson for us. All the statistical aspects were on our side but the most important stat, and the only one that counts, was not on our side.
“We are in a process, we are learning, we learnt so many lessons. The biggest one was how to try and break down the reinforced defence of our opponent. When you are in a process and building, this is something that occasionally happens.
“I hope this result wakes up the pride inside of us to make us fully aware that the game of football can go either way.
“We have to refocus for the game against Maritzburg for what will be our third match in seven days. But it is a match where we really need to show character, measure our values, pull up our socks, pull up our sleeves and show that what material we are built from,” he added.
