Bring an end to draws says Larsen

Lamontville Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen is tired of ending the majority of his Absa Premiership matches in a stalemate after 11 draws this season –more than any other club in the top flight – and is keenly awaiting victory in the weekend Durban derby against AmaZulu.
Arrows have won just one of their last 15 games but earlier in the season did hammer AmaZulu 4-1 at home and have a three point advantage over their neighbours in the standings.
“It is just too many draws,” admitted Clinton Larsen in an interview with SuperSport.
“But you cannot look too deeply into that. It is just that we are not converting the chances that we are creating.
“In our last game against Baroka, we had three clear chances at the end of the game but we didn’t take any of them.
“That happens to a lot of teams. But like I’ve said before, when you can’t win a game, at least get a point. You don’t want to lose it. Take away our 11 draws and we would be talking as different story. We’d be talking relegation.
“We just have to be patient. Since my technical staff and I took over at this club, after promotion, we have never been in the bottom three.
“This team has never struggled in a relegation fight and that is something we are proud of. I don’t think that a newly promoted team has ever done that before. “The thing I’m most pleased about is the growth in the team, the ever improving style of play that we are trying to implement at the club and I keep saying ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’,” added the Arrows coach.
“We have some new players in the team, some young boys like (Velemseni) Ndwandwe, who is coming to the fore slowly but surely. (Mzwandile) Buthelezi as well in defence.
“So we are happy with what we are doing as a club, continuing to give young players an opportunity and also being competitive.
“We were never a team that said we were going to win this league but we did say from day one that we wanted to compete and take on the best teams and I think, if you look overall this season, nobody has walked us off the park, even in a game where we lost by two or three goals,” he said.
