CRICKET::Malan continues to impress, Harmer stuns Dolphins

Pieter Malan and Simon Khomari laid a sound foundation for the World Sports Betting on Thursday as they moved at a rollicking rate to 89 without loss at lunch against the Highveld Lions in their Sunfoil Series match at Eurolux Boland Park.
The two fast bowlers, Beuran Hendricks and Craig Alexander, struggled to settle in their opening spells and the visitors conceded eight extras, including three no-balls from Hendricks.
Malan is in a rich vein of form, having assembled 607 runs in the Sunfoil Series before this match started.
He will resume after the break on 50, having faced 108 deliveries and blasted five fours.
Khomari, with 28, will join him after the interval.

Eldred Hawken had the in-form Theunis de Bruyn caught by Shaun von Berg on the brink of lunch on Thursday on the opening day of the Sunfoil Series match against the Multiply Titans at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein as the hosts moved to 92 for two.

Luthando Mnyanda had the hosts off to an enterprising start as he raced to 31 off 38 balls in a 45-run partnership with Grant Mokoena.
Mnyanda struck five boundaries before his cameo came to an end.
The swing bowler Rowan Richards had him caught by Rivaldo Moonsamy.
His departure saw De Bruyn joined Mokoena and both played with freedom. The Knights-skipper blasted 190 in his previous match against the Hollywoodbets Dolphins.
The South African batsman looked in good knick as he powered the legspinner Von Berg for a six just before the lunch interval.
But Hawken had the last laugh and removed him when on 29.

Simon Harmer produced a scintillating double strike just before lunch as the Warriors took control of the Sunfoil Series match against the Hollywoodbets Dolphins and reduced the visitors to 74 for four at the break at St. George’s Park in Port Elizabeth.

The former South African offspinner sent Vaughn van Jaarsveld back to the pavilion just as he looked destined for a half-century.
He was stumped when on 40 after striking seven fours and a six.
With his next delivery, Harmer trapped Sibonelo Makhanya in front for a duck and the visitors slipped to 71 for four.
Anrich Nortjé was the early aggressor with the ball, claiming two wickets in his opening spell.
Nortjé had Sarel Erwee caught at slip when the latter prodded tentatively at a delivery on the line of off-stump.
Morné van Wyk accelerated almost in one-day fashion, smoking four boundaries in his 18 before an in-swinger from Nortjé beat the bat and he was trapped in front.
