WARRIORS BACK IN CONTENTION
Spinners Jon-Jon Smuts and Simon Harmer shared six wickets as the Warriors bowled themselves back into contention by tea on the second day of their Sunfoil Series match against the bizhub Highveld Lions at Buffalo Park, in East London, on Friday.

Having been bundled out for a disappointing 193 on the opening day, the Warriors bowlers hit back with a disciplined effort with the ball. Smuts and Harmer worked in tandem and were superb as they helped dismiss the Lions for 178 and give their team an unexpected lead of 15.
But when the umpires called tea, the Warriors had thrown the game wide open again by being reduced to 63 for three in their second innings, an overall lead of 78 with seven wickets remaining.
But the low-scoring game appears evenly-balanced and could still go either way in what looks to be heading for an early finish.
Having resumed after lunch on 164 for eight, the Lions quickly lost both Beuran Hendricks (0), bowled by Anrich Nortje, and Non Pongolo (20), who was nipped out by skipper Smuts.
The Warriors captain had earlier claimed the scalps of Nicky van den Berg (19) and Mangaliso Mosehle (10) while Harmer added Rassie van der Dussen (69) and Wiaan Mulder (0) to his one victim from the opening day. Smuts finished with three for 31 and Harmer returned three for 46.
The Warriors started their second innings positively but then lost both openers in the space of four balls. First Ngoepe pushed at a delivery from Beuran Hendricks and nicked off to Aaron Phangiso for eight and then Gihahn Cloete (18) hit one straight at point off Sean Jamison.
Smuts (3) and Yaseen Vallie (12) will continue for the Warriors after the break.

KNIGHTS IN THE DRIVER’S SEAT
In Bloemfontein, the VKB Knights were in the pound seats against the Hollywoodbets Dolphins at Mangaung Oval.
After their skipper Keshav Maharaj took five wickets for 128 runs in helping to bowl out the home side for 478, the Dolphins limped into tea on 125 for five wickets and were trailing on the first innings by 353 runs.
The Dolphins started after lunch on day three on a precarious 40 for three and looked to be resurrecting the innings through Suneran Muthusamy and Sibonelo Makhanya who added 49 for the fourth wicket until Theunis de Bruyn struck with his medium pacers to have the latter caught by Shadley van Schalkwyk for 26.
Marchant de Lange, who had picked up two scalps before lunch, had Dane Vilas caught behind to reduce the visitors to 98 for five.
Muthusamy was holding the innings together with a patient 52 not out from 112 deliveries. Maharaj is at the crease with him on 15.
