Aiden Markram has been appointed as the stand-in captain for the remainder of the one-day international series between South Africa and India.
Faf du Plessis was ruled out on Friday with a fractured finger and is in a race to be fit for the first test against Australia starting on 1 March.
AB de Villiers had already been sideline for the first three ODIs with an injured finger.
